She entered the X Factor again in 2014 and came runner up, she was the show's first contestant to to reach number one on the UK iTunes store during her performance of 'Uptown funk'.
Genre:
The genre of Fleur East's new and upbeat song 'Sax', would fall under the category of pop. This is one of the most popular genres as a variety of different audience's listen to this type of music.
Conventions:
The conventions of this album cover would be the link that it has with the genre as well as the style of her music video. The main focus of this album is the artist Fleur East which is made clear by the fact that she is the main focus of both her album cover and her music video. As you can see she is the only person on her album cover and the type of shot taken is straight on even though she has her body tilted. In her music video she has various other dancers surrounding her but they are mainly in the background throughout and in several quick cuts she is solo. The bright colours in the video can show her inner happiness and same with the dancing.
Production techniques:
Here they use very bright colours for the colour scheme, they haven't used a wide variety of colours they have kept it bold and simplistic, The have used 5 bold colours which really catch your eye and draw you into this album cover. Fleur is clearly seen as she is right in the centre of the album cover as well as the music video which makes her the main focus. There are four costume changes throughout the four minute video. As far as the music video is concerned there are rapid cuts throughout the whole video this makes the video flow a lot more and enable them to change her costumes effortlessly and almost magically. The constant cuts the this video are very sharp and persistent and are needed almost every single second due to the amount of colour changes in the background and outfit changes.
Target audience:
The target audience for Fleur East's new album could be of all ages, there are no age limits on musical genres. This album would attract all ages and all genders. For gender it would fall towards female slightly more than male but it is still an upbeat and funky song that is enjoyable for any type of audience. Even though I feel as if this is mainly for females there are also some male dancers in the background which could imply that men also enjoy this song. Since the album cover is very bright and vibrant this will be very appealing towards the target audience, it is very intriguing and eye-catching therefore if this were to be on the shelf of a music store for example this would be one of the first to be looked at. The way in which they have presented Fleur East and the album cover in general it gives the audience a taste of what they will potentially purchase.
How the artist is represented:
The way in which she holds herself shows a sense of power and strong personality as well as being upbeat. I feel that the font of the text really stands out as it is bold and very clear. Fleur is definitely the main focus in the album cover as she is directly in the centre of it so she is the main attraction. It helps with recognition on who the album belongs to. Coming back to the font and her name is at the very top and the name of the song it in big block letters right across the cover so it is not hard to get an idea of the song name. It has a modern approach to the design and it new and in. The font is also unique as there doesn't and seem to many others that look quite like this. As for the colours it matches the music video which is her dancing and singing along to the soundtrack. In the video there is also bright colours so it goes along with the album cover. She is also wearing a casual yet slightly dressy outfit which are very bright colour wise, this goes for all of her outfits as they change rather frequently. The fact that she is wearing this may inspire viewers and potential fans to desire this look and eventually start to dress this way.
Synergy: The main source of synergy would be her of course and the bright colours that evidently stick out the most. Her costumes remain casual yet dressy and hip and the same time. Her positioning also implies that she is dancing which she is in the music video so I feel that this is the main synergy technique used.
I feel as though the colour yellow used for the background brings her out much clearer and makes her appear more sharp and it makes her the 'it girl'. Her hair is dishevelled and messy, perhaps this is because she has been dancing as shown in her music video. Through presenting this on the album cover it can show the viewer what they should be expecting the song to represent.
Conclusion:
In conclusion I think that they have impacted the audience really well through the techniques used and their ability to captivate the target audience. I think that the video was very uplifting and vibrant and made you feel as though you wanted to get up and take part in the dancing and the album cover is very eye-catching and is the first album you would think to look at and purchase.
